From the murderous attack on Berlin Pride to the imposition of asylum seekers on the village of Piddington, is an elite desire to signal virtuousness becoming a threat to our way of life?
I accept there are tens of millions of people, or more, living in abject poverty in areas of the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa - people with murderous, medieval cultures, whose religions treat women as chattels at best, and whose leaders actively loathe us and want to destroy us.
I may have objective sympathy for these people, but I have zero empathy and I accept zero responsibility for their plight - not least because over the preceding half century, we have contributed hundreds of billions of pounds which has been used for personal enrichment, corruption, warmaking, slavery and generally evil purposes.
I certainly do not want any more of these people in MY country.
Some may call it kindness, others would call it cowardice! Though I sometimes fear it may reflect the great puppet master’s wishes which the Elite won’t gain say.
We have to be careful here to seperate the behaviour of religious zealots from the normal discourse of argument and counter argument by those holding opposite beliefs. Zealots truly believe they have a greater authority on their side therefore any atrocity can be justified. Nobody really expects to see Just Stop Oil or Stop The Boats suicide bombers do they?
Those who express outrage at the book and even the idea of 'suicidal empathy' are themselves usually if not always selfish privileged people who flaunt their virtue in order to be admired. They are not kind and loving people, quite the reverse. Truly compassionate people of whom there are some keep quiet and do their good deeds anonymously and almost furtively and above all do not preach. Cumberbatch publicly stated he would take in an immigrant but shortly afterwards recanted explaining that "my kitchen is not big enough". Others who scream for the ricj to be taxed themselves employ clever accountants to fiddle their own tax returns. These virtue signallers are the exact equivalent of the pharisees whom Jesus hated for their hypocrisy and lack of ordinary decency and who conspired to have him killed.

Suicidal empathy has been the downfall of the West for sure. It's just one aspect of the feminisation of politics.
