From the SNP offering low-cost groceries to Labour in Westminster flirting with rent controls, state-mandated prices are a bad idea that governments just can’t shake.
As the country grows ever poorer the policies to correct this get ever barmier!
Food price caps?! Why not go all the way and get our government to bake the bread in the first place? And distribute it? We could call the distribution centres 'fair banks'. All equal, all poor.
Surely food is too important a thing to be run by the private sector? Government should run it, like everything else they run so brilliantly.
Then in 10 years time when we are all poor and downtrodden, one of our politicians can go and visit a free country, like Singapore for example and see the wealth, opportunity and choice there.
A bit like Boris Yeltsin did when he visited from the USSR and came to see what the USA was able to achieve in a capitalist society.
